Unless you require very high print quality, recycled ink & toner cartridges will return significant savings without affecting the life of the printer. Some printer manufacturers give alarming warnings about voided warranties, but in Australia, they have have no legal weight – the warranty cannot be voided unless it can be proven that the cartridge was at fault; as many recycled cartridges provide supplementary warranties covering just this scenario, they are perfectly safe to use.
When replacing cartridges, don't throw the old ones away – most printer manufacturers have recycling programs, and we have recycling bins right in the doorway of the shop.
Also, use recycled paper whenever possible – there are many brands that are quite adequate for office printing, and some that are presentation quality. And remember: paper has two sides! If you can, use a duplex printer - one that can automatically print two sides - and also have a separate tray for paper that is already printed one side - for drafts, internal reports, etc.

Our business has been in operation since 1991, and building low-energy computers since 2002. Our staff have a long-standing commitment to practical environmental improvement, including experience in environmental management consulting.
To ensure your Green Computing solution best supports your business or home needs requires proper analysis of what those needs are: usually not in computing terms, but in terms of what you need to do and how you want to do it. With our system analysis skills, we can help identify opportunities for savings in your computer energy budget, your computer purchase budget and your peripherals and consumables budget.
Once the opportunities are identified, you need a range of solutions from which to choose (not just one pre-selected by your computer supplier). With our range of experience in client-server systems, low-power computers, custom PC construction and PC optimisation, as well as our range of peripherals, we can work with you to identify the system that ensures the lowest TCO (Total Cost of Ownership: a combination of purchase costs, usage and running costs, maintenance upgrade and repair costs and disposal costs).
Few companies can beat our track record in green computing. Our focus on meeting the user's needs, rather than the “IT needs” means that we can deliver a cost-effective solution, as well as help you save the climate.
