A fast, reliable Internet service is critical to modern businesses, and increasingly important to homes. Email, online banking, e-commerce purchasing are all becoming standard tools, and their dependability is vital. And new VoIP services are making this even more important.

Your Internet service must suit your needs: it must provide the connectivity you need whilst ensuring your security - and the security of your on-line business - is not compromised.

These needs differ from business to business and home to home, and your specific needs can affect which solution is best for you. NetSense Computers has been providing Internet solutions since 1995, and is your ideal Internet partner.

Our two Brooadband provider (ISP) partners are

  • Exetel: Exetel established as an ISP in 2004, providing ADSL, SHDSL and Wireless broadband and VoIP services through the Telstra, AAPT, Optus, Unwired, Verizon and Netcomm networks. Its focus in on low prices and generous download plans. Exetel was able to offer the lowest possible prices by focusing its promotion, selling, order taking and administration on line, and providing basic technical support via on-line help resources, an on-line chat room, and via SMS. Exetel now provides services to over 100,000 customers.
  • Internode: Internode began offering Internet services in 1994, providing a growing range of services through the Telstra, Optus, AARNet, PIPE, Equinix and WAIX networks. Its focus is on excellent technical support, high value offerings and a high level of support. Internode is one of the largest telecommunications carriers in Australia, offering high quality voice, data and entertainment services.

Broadband and related services are becoming increasingly complex, so see below for an explanation of terms:

  • ISP: Internet Service Provider.
  • Broadband: High-speed Internet access (compared to dial-up).
  • ADSL ("Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line"): A series of standards of Broadband delivered through phone lines. The service can be used simultaneously with other phone line use, such as voice and fax calls, EFTPOS, back-to-base alarm systems, etc. ADSL is usually offered with substantially higher download speed compared to upload, which is fine for most Internet usage. The actual speed experienced will be a function of the speed configured at the exchange, the distance from the exchange, and line quality.
  • ADSL Elite: ADSL operating at speeds from 256/64 kbps (kilobits per second) to 1500/256 kbps.
  • ADSL1: ADSL at speeds up to 8194/384 kbps.
  • ADSL2+: ADSL at speeds up to 24000/1000 kbps.
  • Naked ADSL: ADSL offered with no active phone service on the phone line.
  • Churning: Changing an ADSL service from one provider to another; not all ISPs support "fast churn", which operates within approximately 3 days.
  • HSPA ("High Speed Packet Access"); HSDPA ("High-Speed Downlink Packet Access"); 3G ("Third Generation"); Wireless Broadband: Broadband provided over the 3G mobile phone network. Theoretical speeds are up to 14,000,5,800 kbps, but actual speeds will depend on the speed configured at the mobile phone tower, the distance to the tower, and the radio signal condition in the area. Not to be confused with WiFi or wireless network, which is a local wireless network over which a Broadband service can be distributed and shared.
  • SHDSL ("Synchronous High-Speed Digital Subscriber Line"): A business-grade connection offered over existing phone lines (one or two) offering much higher upload speeds than are available through ADSL.
  • VoIP ("Voice over Internet Protocol"): A digital telephony service provided over Broadband (including Naked Broadband).
  • Satellite Broadband: Broadband services provided from satellite; entirely independent of distance from exchanges or mobile phone towers, and therefore suited for remote sites.
  • VPN ("Virtual Private Network"): A secure Internet connection between two computers or networks. Used to allow a remote user (e.g., home-based worker) to connect to a work environment, or to connect two work environments, allowing access to files and programs to be run remotely. If using ADSL, the speed of the connection in either direction is limited to the upload speed, which is potentially quite slow.

Whether your needs are for basic Internet services such as ADSL/ADSL2, Wireless or Satellite, or for more advanced services such as dedicated SHDSL or Ethernet links, VoIP, Managed IP Networks, VPN services, Mobility and Remote access services, NetSense Computers has the experience to provide a solution to facilitate your business services.
